Forest Plan Forum at Southern Utah University - Dixie and Fishlake National Forests
The Forest Service, in cooperation with the Utah Rural Development Council, will convene a Forest Plan Forum on June 28-29 at the Haze Hunter Conference Center at Southern Utah University in Cedar City. The Forum is a milestone in the Dixie and Fishlake National Forests’ collaborative effort to develop their revised Forest Plan.
You are invited to join the Forest Service and other participants for this event. Registration is free. Please RSVP to the Forest Service by calling (435) 865-3730, emailing ckcall@fs.fed.us, or posting to the Forest Planning blog at http://www.ecosystem-management.org/dixie/blog/.
The Forum is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 28, and from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on June 29. An Open House will also be held on June 28 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm for all attendees, as well as for those who are not able to make the proceedings during the day .
The Forum will feature a keynote address by Don Snow, a well-known author on western issues. The Forest Service will discuss the Proposed Land Management Plan Working Document with participants. This document will be available approximately two weeks prior to the Forum on the Forest Plan website at http://www.fs.fed.us/r4/dixie/projects/FParea/HomePage.htm and through the blog, or in other formats if arrangements are made prior to the middle of June.
The Forum will provide an opportunity for the community to hear many different perspectives on forest management. The Forest Service hopes that the Forum will identify new opportunities to expand on-going relationships and partnerships with forest users for implementation of the new plan.
If you have any questions about participating in the Forum, please feel free to contact Kenton Call, Dixie National Forest, at (435) 865-3730.
