Here are some of my pictures from our field trip to the Deep Creek Backcountry. We learned a lot about the area, some management challenges in the area’s vegetation, the great recreation opportunities, and beautiful vistas. We’d love your thoughts about this area and some of the other nice areas adjacent to the proposed backcountry. Your thoughts?

Enjoy the pictures….

Field Trip to Fishlake Hightop on August 27, 2005

Filed under: Special Areas, Field Trips, Pictures — Kenton Call on August 30, 2005 @ 4:20 pm

Mary Erickson, Fishlake National Forest Supervisor, and Kurt Robins, District Ranger on the Loa and Teasdale Ranger Districts, lead a group of 16 people on horseback and about half as many hikers up the Pelican Canyon Trail. The group had some interesting discussions about the proposed backcountry area. We’d like to hear what you have to say about that day or about the proposed special area designation we have for this area. We welcome your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions here.

Thanks to Frank Fay and Frank Erickson, we have some great photos from this trip. I can see a second career with National Geographic or Field and Stream in the cards for these guys. (click more to see photos)
